Who we are
Chargehand is a trading name of Dan Wiggs, a sole trader based in South Croydon (CR2), United Kingdom. Dan Wiggs is the data controller for the personal information described here. Contact: hello@chargehand.co.uk.
We are registering with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Our application reference is ICO:00015624322; our registration number will be shown here once it is issued.
If we have contacted your business about a website
What we hold
Your business name, trading address, business phone number, Google rating and review count, whether the business is a limited company, and our own notes (for example, the date we posted you a card and whether you replied). Most of this is business information, but for sole traders and partnerships some of it is personal information about you.
Where it comes from
Your public business listing on Google Maps (read through Google's official service) and, for limited companies, the public register at Companies House.
Why, and on what basis
To offer you a website for your business. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: we think a business with good reviews and no website may well want one, and a postcard is a low-key way to ask. We contact sole traders and partnerships by post only. We send limited companies one email and at most one follow-up. We never make sales calls, and we never send cold texts or WhatsApp messages.
How long we keep it
Up to 12 months if you don't reply. Listing details we build a preview from are refreshed or removed within 30 days, in line with Google's terms. If you ask us to stop, we delete your details and keep only enough (your business name and Google listing reference) to make sure we never contact you again.
Your right to object
You can tell us to stop at any time by emailing stop@chargehand.co.uk. We'll take down any preview of your site and remove you the same day.
If you are a client
What we hold
- Your name, business name, email address, billing address and the details you give us on the welcome form (domain name, business phone numbers, memberships, logo, photos and any other content for your site).
- Payment records. Your card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Our emails and WhatsApp messages with you.
Why, and on what basis
To build and run your website, take payment, and keep you informed about your service. Our lawful basis is performance of our contract with you, plus our legal obligations for tax and accounting records.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are a client, then six years after you leave for tax and accounting records. Site content is deleted within 90 days of your site coming down, unless you have asked us to hand it over.
If you visit this website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking of any kind. Our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps short-term server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. If you pay us, Stripe's checkout pages use their own cookies for security and fraud prevention; see Stripe's privacy policy.
Forms on this site (such as the welcome form) send what you type to us through Netlify's forms service.
Phone calls, email and WhatsApp
We do not take or make phone calls. Conversations are by email and, if you choose, WhatsApp. We keep messages for as long as they are relevant to your enquiry or service, and no longer than the periods above.
Who we share it with
We never sell personal information. We use these service providers, who process it on our behalf under contract:

Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US data bridge) or by the UK's approved contract clauses.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for it to be transferred. Email hello@chargehand.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We will update this notice if anything changes, and the date at the top will show when it was last revised.
