Terms of service
1. Who we are
Chargehand is a trading name of Dan Wiggs, a sole trader based in South Croydon (CR2), United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can contact us at hello@chargehand.co.uk. We do not take or make phone calls; all contact is in writing.
These terms apply when a business ("you") buys a website and care plan from us. By paying at checkout and ticking to accept these terms, you agree to them on behalf of your business. Our services are for businesses, not consumers.
2. What you get
A finished website as shown in your preview, adjusted for any reasonable changes you ask for before launch, published on your own domain name and looked after under the care plan described below.
3. The one-off fee
- The website build costs £395, paid at checkout.
- If you change your mind within seven days of paying and we have not yet connected your domain, we will refund the £395 in full. Just email us.
- We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added. If that changes, we will give you at least 30 days' notice of any change to what you pay.
4. The care plan
- The care plan costs £29 a month, billed monthly in advance to your card, starting on the day you pay.
- It covers: hosting; registering and renewing your domain; the SSL certificate (the padlock); refreshing your Google rating and reviews on the site weekly; security and technical updates; and up to two small changes a month (see section 5).
- There is no minimum term. You can cancel at any time from your billing page or by emailing us. Your site stays up until the end of the month you have already paid for, and we do not refund part months.
- We may change the monthly price with at least 30 days' notice by email. If you do not want to continue at the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
5. Changes to your site
- Up to two small changes a month are included: updating wording, prices, opening hours or contact details, or swapping a photo. Unused changes do not roll over.
- We aim to make included changes within two working days of your request.
- Anything bigger, such as an extra page, a new gallery or a logo design, is charged at the prices we publish or by a fixed quote you agree before we start. We never charge for work you have not agreed to.
6. Missed payments
- If a monthly payment fails, our payment provider, Stripe, emails you a link to update your card and retries the payment several times over the following 14 days.
- If the payment is still outstanding after 14 days, we replace your site with a holding page that keeps your business name and contact details visible. Your full site is restored as soon as payment is made, usually the same day.
- If the payment is still outstanding after 60 days, the care plan ends, the site is taken down and we offer to transfer your domain to you.
7. Your domain
We register your domain in our registrar account with your business as the named registrant contact, and renew it while you are on the care plan. It is yours: if you ask, we will transfer it to you or to anyone you choose at no charge, whether or not you stay with us.
8. Leaving and your site files
If you leave, the domain goes with you free of charge (section 7). If you would also like a copy of your website files to host elsewhere, we charge £95 for the handover, or nothing once you have been on the care plan for two years. Pictures we made for your site are included in the handover for use on your own website.
9. Your content
- You confirm that the details about your business on the site are accurate, and you will tell us when something needs correcting.
- You confirm you have the right to use any logos, photos and text you send us, and you let us use them to build and run your site.
- We only show trade accreditations, memberships or insurance after you have told us about them and we have checked them where a public register exists. You must tell us promptly if any membership lapses.
- We may refuse or remove content that is unlawful, misleading or offensive.
10. Google reviews
Your site shows your Google rating and a selection of recent reviews, refreshed weekly through Google's official service, with links to your Google profile. We do not write, edit or filter reviews, and we cannot control what Google provides.
11. No guarantees of rankings or enquiries
We build sites to load quickly and to be easy for search engines to read, but we do not guarantee any position in search results or any number of enquiries or sales.
12. Availability
We use Netlify, a well-established hosting company, and aim to keep your site available at all times. Occasionally hosting, domain or other third-party services may be interrupted for reasons outside our control, and we are not responsible for those interruptions, though we will do what we reasonably can to get your site back quickly.
13. Our liability
- Our total liability to you under or in connection with these terms is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
- We are not liable for loss of profits, sales, business or goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
14. Ending the agreement
You can end the agreement at any time by cancelling the care plan (section 4). We can end it by giving you 30 days' notice by email, in which case we refund any payment for the period after the end date and transfer your domain and site files to you free of charge. Either of us can end it straight away if the other seriously breaks these terms and does not put it right within 14 days of being asked.
15. Your information
We use your details only to provide the service and run our business. Our privacy notice explains what we collect and your rights.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will email you about any change that affects you at least 30 days before it takes effect. The version that applies is the one on this page, dated at the top.
17. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
